Primal therapy is an effective treatment.
Primal therapy is a very effective treatment, but it takes time. It's the same for everyone who does primal. There are no exceptions. That does not mean that your life won't improve along the way because it does. And often without your conscious awareness at first.
But if you're looking for a short, sharp, effective treatment (6 to 10 sessions or so) then primal therapy is not the right therapy for you.
Identifying unmet needs.
If you've experienced unmet childhood needs (and everyone does), you might be finding it difficult to identify these as trauma. You have no clear memories of mum or dad severely abusing you. So you don’t see your childhood as traumatic. You still feel bad about yourself and life.
That's because the ongoing subtle but chronic trauma of unmet need (which is epidemic today) becomes integrated into your personality. You tend to believe that this is who you are. Or that somehow you’re unlucky in life or that life is just too hard.
Pain and trauma symptoms.
Overt symptoms of addictions, tension anxiety, depression, anger, sex or intimacy problems and many personality and mood disorders are clear signals that you have unresolved experiences and pain from your past.
There are more subtle symptoms, though. Symptoms such as insecurity, little or no confidence, ongoing relationship problems and unfulfilled potential in life. These are also telltale signs of unresolved feelings that trauma produces. If these feelings are not processed, they can only be suppressed.
Can primal therapy help?
Still, you might be wondering 'is primal therapy for you'. Could a treatment that helps you connect to and express uncomfortable and at times painful feelings be right for you.
You might be thinking that you’re already too emotional and what you need to do is to get rid of these horrible feelings. Or at the very least, learn how to manage them, as in the case of anger management.
But if you’ve tried more mainstream methods of therapy, medication or self-development and you’ve haven’t found any real relief, it might be time for you to consider processing and resolving your painful feelings. Rather than searching for more ways to numb, ignore or suppress them.
Even if you have managed or are managing to contain and keep your feelings at bay, the rituals and controls you have put in place could be wearing you down or wreaking havoc on your body and health. You might be tired of living on the verge of a meltdown or an explosion.

If you feel numb, shut down and don't want to go on, primal therapy is for you. If you're tired of talking about your problems because nothing ever changes then, primal therapy is for you.
If you're sick of everything going wrong and not working out primal therapy is for you. If you always have to hold your feelings back because no one understands, primal therapy is definitely for you. If you've tried allot of therapies and read many books but still feel depressed, anxious or isolated, then it very possible that primal therapy might be the next and best therapy for you.
